Greg Dority for Lieutenant Governor
Campaign Letters from Greg Dority
Dear fellow Republican:
With three weeks to go until primary day, we continue to lead the Lt Governor race on the ground. Our strong message of advocating for the middle class is being heard across the state -- from Hickory to New Bern, from Wilmington to Asheville. Excessive state government and the deflationary wage pressures from illegal immigration are strangling the middle class folks that carry this state on their backs. I am disappointed other candidates are not sharing this message, but proud that we have not wavered in our convictions despite sharp negative attacks from our wealthy Charlotte opponent.
Speaking of Bob Pittenger, I notice that in the latest NC Center for Public Policy Research legislative rankings, he is ranked 49th out of 50 in senate effectiveness as judged by the media and his peers. Being ranked in the bottom two percent in your job certainly does not qualify for a promotion in the private sector! I guess things are different for some privileged folks in the legislative community.
We remain committed to serving the people of North Carolina as your next Lt Governor. It's time for regular folks like you and me to have a say in how things are run in Raleigh. Come May 6, the wealthy elitists getting fat at the taxpayer's expense need to be retired. If you agree, then your first step on this path is to vote Greg Dority for Lt Governor in the primary.
I'll take care of the rest.

Dear fellow Republican:
Thanks again to those of you around the state that have become involved in our campaign and continue to offer guidance and support. With less than three months to go until the primary, we lead our Charlotte opponent in the polls and in hard work on the ground. This is much less attributable to my efforts but, instead, to the several hundred people who have taken it upon themselves to share of their time and experience to create a dynamic and credible Lieutenant Governor campaign.
Thank you. This experience has been most humbling for me as I continue to learn and develop as a candidate.
I want today to share snippets of some of the conversations I am having with the voters. Since September, I have spoken with more than five hundred Republican voters one-on-one and listened to their thoughts and ideas about what is going on in North Carolina. I serve you best when I give it to you straight -- this is what some of our neighbors are saying:
(Nash County) "Greg, I'm a small business owner in the trucking business. It's hard enough to make a living in trucking without the government taxing me and fining me every time I turn around. I think state government must have deals with the big firms because DOT seems to look the other way when the big Democrat contributors break a regulation. If we don't get help, I'm going out of business."
(Mecklenburg County) "Mr Dority, I want to know why day care costs so much. I can't work and take care of my child on what I make. The state workers tell me they can only help me if I'm not working. I don't want to go on welfare but why can't small businesses get some kind of tax break to offer day care? I'm a single mother and I'm scared."
(Randolph County) "Governor Easley should burn in **** for selling us out on illegal immigration. I make less money now than I did five years ago because these Mexicans are undercutting our wages. The Republican Party needs to stand up for the working man and middle class folks in this state. I like what you are telling me about your ideas for keeping them out and I'm for you in the primary."
(Wayne County) "Greg, I've known you since the first time you ran in 2002 for Congress. I've never seen it this bad with the state government and their permitting process. I cut a road through a piece of land I'm going to harvest timber on in a few years if I live that long. The state wanted me to hire engineers and surveyors and meet all these crazy specs just to put a driveway in. It would have cost me seven thousand dollars. To heck with all those Democrats in Raleigh stuffing our money in their pockets, I'll use a metal logging ramp instead and see 'em in court."
*****
If we as candidates will talk less and listen more to the people, they will tell us what is going on out there. People, our people -- our friends and neighbors -- are crying out for relief from a state government gone power mad by the likes of Marc Basnight, Bev Perdue and Mike Easley. The people are ready to sweep into office a new generation of Republican leadership, if we will only have the courage to charge forward and meet the challenge of slaying the Democratic criminal enterprise known as state government.
Will you join me in this fight? Will you join the hundreds that already have?
There is a GOP wind blowing across this state. Raise your sails and join the call to battle.
Thanks again for your support.

Dear fellow Republican:
Many thanks to all of you around the state who contacted me over the Christmas holiday and wished me well in my campaign for the office of Lieutenant Governor. As you probably already know, I officially announced my candidacy in mid-December in my hometown of Washington, NC.
I look forward to coming your way soon to discuss the campaign. Until I get there only two points need to be made about what is happening in our state:
First: The state government is burning up all your money with their excessive spending. We don't need more government employees holding conferences and swapping endless memos and emails, while the taxpayer is struggling to make the mortgage payment or buy new shoes for the kids. I will work to make state government 10% smaller.
Bottom line: State government is looting your pocket like a thief in the night with endless taxes and fees. Smaller government is better government.
Second: Illegal immigration is killing our state and our country. The taxpayer is expected to follow the rule of law while our so-called leaders (in both parties) turn a blind eye to an invasion that is bleeding us dry. The resources and benefits of this great state belong to the citizens of North Carolina and I will never forget that as your Lieutenant Governor.
Bottom line: State government refuses to combat an invasion of criminal elements that threatens to overwhelm our society. In wartime ineffective commanders are relieved of duty and replaced by more capable leadership. I assure you that when it comes to illegal immigration I will be more effective in fighting the problem than what we have now.
On the campaign trail I like to talk a little and listen a lot -- that is the only way for me to learn what is on your mind. My goal is to visit with at least one Republican group every day (except Sundays) between now and the primary. If you know of a GOP meeting or get-together in your county that I need to be at, please use the information in the release below to make contact with the campaign.
As your candidate for Lieutenant Governor, I will continue to strive for the betterment of our lives in North Carolina. Nobody will work harder for you than me.
A very prosperous New Year to you and yours.
